GRAEC (Grace Howard)

Born, living, and working in West Sussex, England, Grace received a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art and Design in 2020, a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design in 2021 and a BA Hons Fashion Photography degree in 2024. Grace is an artist and photographer, strongly inspired by nature, her surroundings, and the beauty and duality of the English countryside. Working primarily on location, making use of the available and natural lighting, Grace’s work explores the  interconnection between the natural, and the vulnerable body. Combining her practices, she creates textural pieces, rich in the emotions of humanity, of concealment and transparency.In Grace’s work, the process is an equally important part of creating as the outcome.

In Grace’s most recent project, ‘A love letter to myself’, Grace has taken her experience as an artist, and combined it with a healing journey through self portraiture, bringing issues with body image and struggles with anorexia, back to the surface, to relive the uncomfortable feelings, and heal from them using mixed media and collage techniques that offer a glimpse into the challenges that come with a change in shapes and textures of a different, but healthy body.
